Units:
Buildings: Access is made up of four buildings. Two two-storey buildings on 7th avenue, one on 8th, and a third two-storey building on 5th avenue. Each of the 52 units is on a single level so that they are all wheelchair accessible. The breakdown of unit sizes is:
1 – Bachelor
14 – 1 bedroom
21 -2 bedroom
14 – 3 bedroom
2 – 4 bedroom
The Housing Units Vary somewhat in size but approximate square footage is:
1 bedroom units – 600 square feet
2 bedroom units – 800 square feet
3 bedroom units – 1,000 square feet
4 bedroom units – 1,200 square feet
All 2 and 3-bedroom units have small en-suite storage rooms. Storage lockers are also available, and all units have balconies or patios.
Facilities and Amenities:
Laundry: 5 washers and dryers. Currently the cost is 75 cents per load.
Parking: Secured underground parking for members with a motor vehicle. The parking garage also contains a secured bicycle storage room.
Meeting Room: A large room used for Co-op meetings and members’ social functions.
Some Policies you should know about:
– The pet policy allows for dogs and cats in the building.
– Allocation of units – generally speaking the Co-op’s policies are that there must be a person for each bedroom in the unit.
– Members MUST participate in the governance and management of the housing co-op.
Costs:
Shares: Obligatory shares in the Co-op are dependent upon the suite size and are payable before move-in.
Housing Charges: The current charges (for 2020) are:
Bachelor – $761.00 per month
1 bedroom unit – $913.00 per month
2 bedroom unit – $1,087.00 per month
3 bedroom unit – $1,223.00 per month
4 bedroom unit – $1,356.00 per month
These housing charges are subject to change annually and are voted upon at the annual budget meeting.
Utilities and Insurance: Members pay their own hydro, cablevision, telephone and internet, and must carry household insurance for their housing unit.
